Windows 7 Startup Repair

A painful thing which can be touch to get rid of.

This thread talks about some possible solutions:

In essence you allow a repair, and when it fails you make a copy of the reg files (system32\comfig) and then copy in the files from regback. Then reboot, and let it run though the repair 3 TIMES.

The operator at a site I dealt with also used a system recovery point back a week or so, and then further back. And I did one of those also.

Later i ran diskpart and set some volumes (or partitions) active, and then startup repair on one of those did take a ahile and went through the 2nd repair for quite ahwile, but the failed as usual on the third.

Later I did the bootrec /fixboot
and /fixmbr
and /RebuildBcd

which worked.
